I think it is just geographic proximity; neighbouring populations will pop up in your results. I think anyone looking at Gedmatch results can see a pattern. Populations are more similar to their neighbours than anything else. Anyone with deep ancestry in a certain area will share similarities with their neighbours. This is very obvious.

Certainly and yet it is of great interest to me of how these particular neighbors get singled out and included in the readings. One wonders why we don't all have the same deep ancestry if we all come from roughly the same part of the world.
