GEDmatch gives a North German / Danish bias to British Isles people so those results back up your 23andMe - British/Irish with 1/4 to 1/2 Scandinavian. There is not really such a thing as 'averaging out' but you could call yourself GermanoCeltic or NordoCeltic or simply Northwestern European (NWE).

The only thing I don't get is the atypically high amount of West Asian. I wonder what it says about my genetics?

Well if race is a social construct then so are ethnic groups.
I would say probably just Northern Europe/North Western Europe.

Petalpusher has told me before he thinks I have a recent ancestor from the Caucasus, and this is the reason I have high West Asian and low East Med...I am not sure how plausible this theory is.

Your results are probably within the normal range and always remember that these genetic tests are only approximate anyway so don't take them too seriously. Your results and known ancestry match up pretty well and that's that. The best you can do is more ancestry research and testing of other family members.
