This are Albanian orthodox. And this surnames are greek due to their religion. What is so weird for you? Many people in Albania have religious names and not only orthodox. There are many people with muslim name or surnames, but this are not Arabs or Turks, etc.

I know some people here who changed their religious surnames back into their pre-religious times, a man here carries surname Kryeziu switched from Ahmetaj because all he knew is that his great grandfather moved here from Puka in the last century.

    They should do the same

Raine, the surname Karipidhis is not used in Albania. If you divide the word in two, Kari and Pidhi, you will understand the reason. At my knowledge is a surname was from prosfigi.
About the greek minority in Albania, your source is a BS. Greeks were always recognized as a minority in Albania. During the communism was made an great progress in this direction. Greek minority has an newspaper in greek, radio station in Greek, an branch of University Eqrem Çabej in Gjirokastër was and still is in greek. The religion was forbiden not only for the greek minority but for all Albanian citizens. Albania was the first ateist country. Here we have to make clear that this persons who are called Greek minority, are vlachs who arrived in Albania invited by Albanian land lords, as workers. This persons were hellenised by orthodox church and now they are considered greeks. Among this people you can notice many with surnames like Gjika (Ghikas), Koka, etc who are clearly Albanian surnames.
From the other side, can you tell me, why Greece don't recognize the Albanian minority in Greece? Your country is a country member of EU, but the standarts in treatment of minorities in Greece can not be compared even with the standarts of comunist dictature in Albania. Do you have an answer for this?

Karipidis is of Turkish root, and Greek ending, its a tottally Greek surname
(Remember that Turks didn't have surnames up until the surname law, contrary to Greeks, Armenians and Jews)
