And the people with the most Steppe ancestry in Europe, according to this calculator, are... Basques? At 28.48%? I wonder how MDLP reached this number, as the owner doesn't explain what references he uses for each component. Seems a bit weird...

I think this is an effect of them scoring low NorthEast Europeans (which has ofc lots of steppe), so most of their WHG is hidden in the "neolithic", + steppe, whereas for other Euro it is more spread on all three HG rich components.
