I'm aware of that. But you're missing the philosophical component. An omnipotent God renders those things meaningless. As if such a God can't control genetics? Whether you believe there is such a God is another issue entirely. Presupposing His existence, as the Bible does, means there is no contradiction.

If God wants you to fuck your sister, you're going to fuck her. You have no way around it and so buck up and fuck your sister. The child will turn out however God wants it to turn out.

It is a contradiction. The bible revolves around god. Everything thats believed about god is based on the bible.
If god is supposed to be supernatural of doing anything and all powerful. he is supposed to be able to do something like control genetics. "God" can't but scientists are in the early stages of doing it. It is humans not god controlling genetics

It doesnt have to directly say God would want to get rid of genetic problems. Its a genetic harzard. At those times when science wasn't as mature as today people just regarded people with genetic defects as abominations. Even they were just people who were suffering and unfortunate. So god would have fixed that issue if he was real. God actually genocides mass populations and causes a flood because he considered them abominations ( for other reasons in the bible)
