Malta looks very similar to southwest Sicily -- Agrigento, Trapani, and so on. Whatever impression you got there, you'd get in southwest Sicily also.

I am unsure about Athens since I know virtually nothing about that area.

Athens, was build quite late, unlike other Southern European cities like Lissabon for example, which was build during colonial times.

It was build after the arrival of millions of Greece from all over Greece, especially Asia Minor Greeks who had no place to live. Still those Greeks created beautiful suburbs like Nea Smyrni. So it's a bit chaotic, but still, it's nothing like Turkey or the middle east.

In fact it's one of the most beautiful cities in the world in my humble opinion. I visited Sofia (Bulgaria) this past week and it looked quite depressing. It made me appreciate once again, what a wonderful city Athens is.

Ιf anything, we are the one nation that doesn't post blondish people , just rarely. In the group photos we post, or in the average, we are always post classic Greeks -> Brown haired and brown/hazel eyes people.
