That's true. These were the good old days (supposedly). When my grandparents were just teenagers in the late 30s. I had some pictures of them in that era. They seemed to recall the inter-war period fondly. It was actually quite a wealthy country at the time, in part due to abundant oil exports and other resources. The commies ruined everything though.

The Capsa hotel, which I stayed in a few nights, was an old building from 1852, and is still pretty nice, but I hear it's only a shadow of what it once was:

Bucharest was a negligible small balkan place, which is obvious from their architecture.
