European noses aren't diverse at all. They're all like Linebacker described them. SSA Africans have the biggest diversity in nose shapes.

Hm, I don't know about that... Maybe in Moldova that's more common, but I would not say strong noses are uncommon overall, from traveling around the different regions. Isn't there a word 'cârn' for people with small snubby upturned noses, so it can't be that common if there's a concept to differentiate it? I remember some folks on my dad's side of the family even had a half-joking idea that people with those types of noses were partly Russians, from the soldiers that came through in the war, and that real Romanians couldn't have that lol. That being said, relatively straight noses are probably the most common overall, and convex are more common especially in the mountains. I notice there's people on both extremes though, with Alpines and Gorids having smaller ones, and Pontids in the middle. It's kind of weird to see how different some individuals are, almost like the whole ethnos was formed from peoples or tribes who were once of very different origins. The fact that we're disagreeing on the types you see in the country just shows how varied and divided it is anthropologically.
I found this anthro data from Carleton Coon:
Who 'nose', it could be that the figure is a bit high but I still think at least a quarter of the population falls into that type.Dinarid Distribution
Dinarics are mostly found in moutainous areas of Central and Southeast Europe stretching from Central France to the Balkans.
Core Dinaric
Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia, and Slovenia: 75% Dinaric
Romania: 35% Dinaric (Most common in the West)
Austria: 25% Dinaric
Czech Republic and Slovakia: 25% Dinaric (Most common in Moravia)
Italy: 20% Dinaric (Most common in the North)
Hungary: 20% Dinaric: (Most common in the Southwest)
France: 15% Dinaric: (Most common in SE France)
Switzerland 15% Dinaric (Most common in the South and East)
Bulgaria: 15% Dinaric
Poland: 10% Dinaric
Greece: 10% Dinaric
Germany: 5% Dinaric (Most common in Bavaria)
Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine 5% Dinaric: (Most common in Eastern Ukraine)
Spain and Portugal: 5% Dinaric
Peripheral Dinarids
Norics: Nordic/Dinarid Intermediates
Austria: 35% Noric
France: 30% Noric (Most common in the North)
Switzerland: 30% Noric (Most common in the North, West, and Center)
Germany: 15% Noric
Czech Republic and Slovakia: 15% Noric (Most common in Bohemia)
Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, and Slovenia: 10% Noric (Most common in the North)
Romania: 7% Noric
Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine: 5% Noric
Poland: 5% Noric
Italy: 4% Noric (Most common in the North)
England: 2% Noric (From Bronze Age invaders)
Hungary: 2% Noric
Ireland: 2% Noric
Also for some reason Albania was omitted even though it would probably be like half Dinarid I assume.
Personally I like straight ones (mine is that way too). And on women I like them a bit upturned. But it doesn't suit men as much. Just depends on other factors.
Lol that's bound to be a controversial claim. Those other influences must have come in a very ancient/prehistoric time (from the Near East for example). Ultimately, everything in Europe has to come from somewhere else doesn't it?Originally Posted by Linebacker
Also, I think there's something to the idea that some types emerged in as an adaptation to certain environments, like mountainous regions.

I do not think nose is important that much. It has a large diversity even in a race after all.

I have a theory about the frontal lobe growing bigger and pushing the forehead part of the skull towards, and by doing so, pulling the nose downwards which leads to larger cheekbones, making the face longer and deepening the sinuses, that could've helped to keep our faces warm, and our lungs cleaner, providing our eyes with a rooftop (supraorbital ridge) which give us a good shadow to the eyes when the sun hits our face... Of course it has no scientific basis, and it's basically shit. It cannot explain either why north-east asians haven't developed that since their nose roots are closer to their eyes than europoids, yet they did experienced harder climates while crossing siberia, all way down to south america.
