Do you know what proxies or whatever they used to calculate ASE here?

I think south east asian tribals so negritos I guess as you mentioned in the Uzbek thread. It's apparently the most similar to ASI which makes sense tbh. This is from the Eurogenes blog

Ancestral South Eurasian (ASE): this is a really basal cluster that peaks in tribal groups of Southeast Asia. It's probably very similar in some ways to the Ancestral South Indian (ASI) component described by Reich et al. a few years ago.

I know where it peaks, but I meant how did they calculate the ASE for the calc? I've heard that they used Melanesians for the K9 ASI. So I'm guessing they used SE Asian tribals for this calc?

Yeah they used south east asian tribal samples for the ASE component. ANE is sampled from karitiana indains of Brazil. Apparently the non-east asian snps that are found in karitiana samples are labeled as ANE.

Mingle who's an afghan pashtun scores less ANE than me so this might not be so caucasoid shifted.
Were did euros get ANE then?

I agree with you regarding ANE being caucasoid. I read it on the eurogenes blog and it says that the NON-east asian snps in the karitiana samples were modeled as ANE. So ANE might be just proto-caucasoid.

I think it came to europe through the andronovo/yamanaya/some steppe culture in central asia
