which new car should myanthropologies get?

I'm buying a new car. I'm 99% set on getting a 2018 Honda Accord because they're reliable, pretty, strong, and sell back well. On the other hand, I've also very slightly considered the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV. The thing about the tiguan though is that I'm a university student and employee, so I probably don't need a suv or a big vehicle. I've also heard that VW's reliability sucks, that they don't sell back well, and that the fuel economy is horrid.

The pictures don't do much justice because my phone space was limited. But if you go on google and see pics, the Honda looks better to me actually. My sister said the VW tiguan looks too much like a moms SUV. However, I think it looks nice, and everyone has their different opinions. The guy at the combined Honda & VW dealership told me to go with the Honda because the VW has a horrible fuel economy and resale value, and is overall less reliable. However, I'd like extra opinions too.

I am partial to VW as a German car, but Hondas are more practical, as it is much easier to find parts for them in the States.

Hondas are also cheaper. In terms of pure pragmatism, Honda is the way to go.
