I remember once visiting my WASP classmate's home...we were about 10/11 years old. Her mom yelled at her "Stop slouching, you look like a Polak!"
I associated bad posture with Poles ever since LOL

Poles are nice people. I dated a polish girl in high school. They are catholic like us.

It's more common among Westeners of Anglo/German descent from my experience, I think it's to do with the iron curtain. Even after it fell, that "backward" stereotype never really left Eastern Europe in the eyes of some.
In Brazil however, the Slavs or Eslavos as they're known in the region are loved, especially in my home state, which the Slavs helped build. Polish, Ukranian and Russian descended people are very respected for their honesty and work ethic. In my state every blond, blue/green eyed person is called a "Polaco", regardless of where in Europe they or their ancestors hail from, and it's meant as a "seal of whiteness" not a slur.
When it comes to my personal opinion, I love Slavs! I've always been treated with respect by them in every country that I've interected with them, and I return their respect.
