War of Paraguay is one of the few moments on our history that I have proud. A pity people, nowadays, have not any notion about who is Duque de Caxias.

There are a lot of historioghrapic views about this war. Paraguays historians like to put paraguays as the victim, because Paraguay was, supposly, more developed and rich than other countries. We won this war, but some members of brazilian imperial family encouraged the extermination of paraguayan people. There is not good guys on this history. Ignore Argentina and Uruguay effort here.

Sim. O Brasil era bem despovoado nessa época, tirando o litoral.

Ofc it does have impact even today. Our victory had a huge influence in the Braziliam empire falls, the brazilian army even instituted a Sword's Republic after their coup, they also did a new constitution. If we are a republican regime today it has a lot to do with that war.
