What is the meta ethnicity of French people?

Since they spoke Romance language - so Romance. Their Celtic and Germanic component is strong, but, Romance.

Romance langguages derive from Latin which is Italic language, but not all Romance speakers are Italic, only Italians are.

So Italic, Latin, or Romance put as "meta ethnicity" is not very relevant.
