lol average punjabi and even kashmiris dont have pontid features yet people here are saying a southern nepali kshatriya is nordid, pontid. lol wtf. I'm amazed by the double standards on this site jesus. everyone says how south asians have 'distinctive' features and can't even look like afghans, but since its the enlightened buddha people are saying he looked european, nordic, pontid, cause only truly european looking folks are capable of creating such a sophisticated religion. so random russian looking dude was born in nepal/india border and came up with the religion of buddhism. it makes perfect sense

He was not Nepali kshtriya. It was Iron Age Gangetic Kshetriya. Nepal was all from later time. During Sakyan Republics of Iron Age they had strong continuity in North UP/Bihar/small parts of Nepal. Look at Hindu/Buddhist literature. Only in the late 8th century, after a Newar dynasty that area was called Nepal.

that makes my point stronger then. So him having pahari or east asian influence to give him pseuo nordic type looks is almost non existent. he probably just looked like a UP/bihari brahmin, not even a pahari brahmin so what are the chances that he looked nordic in the gangetic plain? Its very nonsensical.

most depictions of him just look gracile indid with alpine, which is quite common for the region.
Sakhyas were south asian just like all the mahajanapadas at that time. Also indo scythians didnt even extend that east. The name could be a coincidence if anything and an offshoot or something related to sakas. The mixture happened once aryans, indo-scythians reached into the subcontinent. They didnt wait for 1000+ years. The kingdoms were found in south india as well and there is literally no euro blood in any south indian other than the brahmins, who are said to have origins from north anyways and werent rulers of any kingdoms either. The Buddha probably had the typical color of any Asian Indian living back then, which would be somewhat similar to the color seen today. He certainly was not white and certainly not black
Although, it is possible that he may have been more toward a medium to dark brown, since he spent much time outdoors in meditation and teaching and the sun would certainly darken the color a little. The image to the left may not be that far off and is probably very close to the skin color of the Buddha.
btw is this guy scythian? he has colored eyes, curly hair, very caucasoid features.
