I'm not up to date on critical Dutch affairs in the modern day, nor through history. But for face value, I don't know why one would have "colonies" high on their "to do" list. I agree not everyone is a potential doctor, and that there is a sort of "destructive" nature that seems inherent in humanity in a latent form or otherwise, but I don't see how one makes that jump to link it to "therefore, we need colonies". I don't think they work out in the long run, as history shows, regardless of war outcomes, let alone the moral implications.

Was Wilhelm II not attempting to bolster the German navy so that it could compete for colonies? I thought that this naval focus was what led England from being a Prussian ally to being threatened by them, driving them to the French who were their long time enemies?
