The world is just the world. It's been like that before we came here, it will be same long time after we're gone. It's full of beautiful and ugly things but most of all it's full of death. Death is natural and inevitable no matter what we do. It's just at younger age most people are too immature to handle that truth.

Maybe you disagree with current state of affairs and think it should be changed somehow. Any ideas how to change it?

If there was a noticeable rise in suicides that was directly linked to social media usage, would you hold the same stance?

An inquest into her death last year found that Ursula had been struggling emotionally since the divorce of Miss Harlow and David Keogh, Ursula’s father.
So blame instragram but not what brought on emotional turmoil? It's not like we have an epidemic of suicides caused by instagram. No doubt the girl's troubles was far more complicated.

I appreciate your line of thought.. but I'd still hold mental illness (in the final or most meaningful analysis) most culpable..

There is an increasing amount of data backing the idea that social media usage is linked to higher suicide rates, of course it's not simply fair to say Instagram is responsible for suicide but it has too much impact on some lives.

    My line of thinking:

An individual's innateness is key (temperament (emotional, psychological etc)):

Take for instance childhood abuse: Individual A accommodates the exact same childhood abuse better than Individual B: Individual A ends up living within a normative adulthood, Individual B ends up a junkie with tendencies towards affective disorder and petty criminality.

    Likewise:

Hypothetical Individual C accommodates the same negative social media experience better than Individual D, who commits suicide within the context (to whatever degree) of Facebook bullying.

My argument: Across individuals A-D, something other than childhood abuse or social media experiences is the keystone.

Both the personal and the interpersonal are involved in Suicide, I totally agree with you there.

    Interesting argument.

When an addictive drug enters a community it slowly grows to be an epidemic over time. As the internet grows and becomes more apart of our lives, I think it will affect us in many ways.

Policing the internet in some form is going to become a thing in the future, I have no doubt.

Facebook is not here to blame but the mother who more likely than not neglected her daughter who is trying to find a scape goat. And even if such a facebook content can be hold partially responsible ... it is still the duty of the parent to control the access of someone this young.
