I'd hate to hold such a depressing world view. Many women do care.

Well, I do care about the things my husband can do for me. I do not see this as a problem, as I myself try to make up for this by providing traits that I feel are in trade for what he does for me. What do I trade for his patronage, and his continued support for myself and our family? I clean our house and provide a home he can relax in. I’ve cultivated my culinary knowledge to be able to not only make meals that he personally enjoys, but made things he’s shared with others and was complimented on, which in turn made him feel proud. My knowledge generally on running a household on little money saves him money. I am honest with him at all times on how I understand things so he doesn’t have to be confused about what I think or how I feel.
I don’t see how appraising someone’s value is wrong. So what if you love someone? Will that pay the bills? Sure, that sounds cold, but how can I condone suffering for something stupid? My first marriage, I did everything, which included working and paying all the bills. It was just so I can love this man and his daughter. I got nothing out of it except more abuse and his squandering of resources. I told my husband that I believe my last marriage failed because he was extremely mean. I was willing to work myself to my limit to support what we had, but in the end, he even made it impossible to desire any type of close physical contact.
If my husband loves me for me, while I love him for the things he can do for me, to me, this is okay, because I will always return on investment. I’m not a trash person with flimsy feelings. I will always fight to continue returning on investment. This is not bad to me.
