Whenever someone mentions the words "economy" and "Zimbabwe" in the same sentence, the initial reaction is to mention the 100 trillion dollars note and perhaps some cheap jokes like a piece of chewing gum costing 400 quadrillion dollars (a cheap joke which, by the way, is not far from the reality of the time). But that time has passed. In April there will be 10 years since the Zimbabwean dollar de facto ceased to exist.
Although officially the Zimbabwean dollar was abolished in June 2015, the currency disappeared more than 5 years earlier after the 250 million per cent inflation rate made it abundantly clear to everyone that it was not working. So now, after 10 years, Zimbabwe has a different currency - The RTGS dollar which, by the way, did not exist yet in early February when I taped these images, but it was talked about already in the national press. So... how is the economy of Zimbabwe? What are the struggles today? Has anything changed for the better? Let's explore!
Wake up and smell the coffee.

On Facebook, black Zimbabwens pay tribute to ex-Rhodesian Prime Minister, Ian Smith on his birthday. Damn near all of the commenters were saying how much they miss his government.
