From what I understand life in East Slavic lands is not really different than life in Balkans.

In the West, it's quite bad but not all over the country. And while it may be bad, it's nowhere as absolutely horrendous as the Russian media portrays it to be. In fact, in many ways, the excitement is what is missing. Particularly in smaller towns, they stick to their areas and we to ours. Crime ? In my town. Meh. I can walk the streets safe at night.
And I can promise you: so will you.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

They get that image though your media, yes, and through its American counterparts. The reality is, is that apart from Amsterdam, there is remarkably little going on in the Netherlands. In spring the trees are green and the flowers abundant, in summer you're roasting your arse off, in autumn the trees are red, yellow and brown and in winter you're freezing your arse off. Dutch people are born, Dutch people die. Migrants are born (much fewer than before - the birth rate has collapsed below even the Dutch level) and they die. And so it goes, year after year. Amsterdam is shitshow and since has been a shitshow since the 1960s. What else is new ?
Wake up and smell the coffee.

These two might be communist spies in disguise like any Russian. To arms, Lolspeaker.
