For the full effect, get a bilingual version of it and try to read the Anglo-Saxon aloud as well as you can. For a thrilling version of Beowulf, get the KOCH Vision DVD, KOC-DV-6445 of Benjamin Bagby reciting lines 1-1062 accompanying himself on the Anglo-Saxon harp.

All of these translations would be better if they had æ,ø,å.
Lots of these Anglo-Saxon words have easy Norse translation.

BATTLE-SARK.—Armor. Serk/Særk (clothing for upper body=
CARLE.—Man, hero. Karle (meaning young men)
EARL.—Nobleman, any brave man. Jarl
GREWSOME.—Cruel, fierce. Grusom
HELM.—Helmet, protector. Hjelm
NAZE.—Edge (nose). Næse/Nese
NESS.—Edge. Ness- (used when rock protude in water)
SKINKER.—One who pours. Skenker/Skænker (to pour, å skenke, at skænke)
