Inspired by a similar thread that was about discussing how Latin America would be if it was colonized by British, I decided to create this one.
It is of common knowledge that Spain colonized the southwest of today's United States, plus Florida, and even Louisiana during a period of time, and they also explored the southeastern states (the Spanish explorer De Soto). And Mexico is also part of North America.
However, this thread is about how the whole North American continent (including Canada, Alaska and everything) would be if it was exclusively colonized by Spaniards? How it would be if British, French, and no other European power had managed to successfully colonize this continent, but Spaniards had prevailed and colonized it all? Discuss...

Would be a little better than Uruguay and Argentina. Similar to current Spain.

Thanks for your answer. Would you mind to further develop the reasons? You think the climate (like it happened with Argentina and Uruguay) would been an important factor? Do you think it would have been occupied by 1, 2 or 3 mostly European descent big countries? And that great part of the predominant ancestry would be Spanish? or probably Spanish and Italian, like it happened in Argentina?

I think it would not be majority mestizo, for the reason that the North American Indians north of the the Rio Grande were mostly hunther gatherer nomads and fierce warriors, not to mention far less numerous. Remember that the Araucanians of Chile were only conquered during the 19th century by the Chileans, for being similar to North American Indians and Patagonia and Tierra del fuego was only colonized by Chileans and Argentines during the same century. So North America would still be majority white at any rate. I am sure it would not be a super power like the US or equally as developed economically or as free and democratic, but maybe it would be better in other ways. It would also likely be divided in many independent states, do to the Latin American tendency of political fragmentation. I do wonder though what the Southeast would be like and if the five civilized Indian tribes would still exist and how much mixing would there be with them and with the blacks. I think the Southeast would be like Cuba overall. The positive side is that there would probably be no political correctness or affirmative action and all the moronic negrophilia of contemporary USA. What do you think Alnortedelsur about how Spanish speaking North America would be like?

I think they would probably had received some NW Euro immigration, but it would have been limited to some few German towns here and there, like it happened in Argentina. Probably some Irish would have immigrated as well, but they would have been like drops in an ocean of Spanish immigrants.
I also think the industrial revolution would have been smaller, but the great territory, and the abundance of fertile lands and natural resources, plus its proximity to Europe, would have helped for some industrial revolution (even if smaller) to successfully flourish.
