I1 is what - less than 1% of Ashkenazim? It doesn't affect the distribution.

It's probably related to the 1% Iran your dad gets on AncestryDNA. Could be a sign of Mizrachi admixture. Might just be an effect of random inheritance etc, as his Arabic is low. Hard to say. Does he get any Mizrachi cousin matches? If you're fine wasting money on HomeDNA, then get him on MyHeritage. It's much cheaper;has a Mizrachi reference and a larger database of people. It's not the most accurate, but it's more accurate than DNALAND.

I'm not sure how to check for Mizrachi matches, but I'll run my dad through MyHeritage and see what comes up. Forgot about that one!

What's his exact subclade? I thought that M267 would be more common with Sephardi

Not sure of his exact subclade, but he's got five Y-111 matches; three are Ashkenazi, two are Mexican (& the majority are ZS2606)

That's cool. Congrats. Maybe the Mexicans descend from conversos. I don't even have any matches at 37 markers which is why I did the Big Y. It's possible that his subclade is ZS2606 then if that's the majority of his matches.

It looks like a line that had the following path: Levant->Iberia->Ashkenaz. However, it's not clear yet that this can be called a Sephardi branch because the TMRCA estimate between the Ashkenazim and the (pretty much definite) descendant of Conversos/Moriscos in Mexico is from before the point when Sephardim became a distinct group. Once more people join that branch, it'll be more clear whether the line is Sephardi or pre-Sephardi.

edit: Actually, the TMRCA date is pretty much at the famous exile from Israel. This makes the path harder to trace. What is clear though is that this is a Judean lineage.

Your Baltic seems kind of low for a Hungarian. Weird to see a Hungarian closer to Serbs and Moldovans than to Croats. You also get Hungary at a distance of 8. Which part of Hungary are you from?
