Ekrem İmamoğlu, who became a figurehead for Turkey's political opposition by winning an election for Istanbul mayor this year, is more favoured than President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to become the next president, according to an opinion poll by PIAR.
A total of 44.5 percent of participants said they would vote for İmamoğlu compared to 39.7 percent who said they would support Erdoğan if Turkey held a presidential election today, Artı Gerçek news site reported citing the PIAR poll.
Erdoğan won 52.54 percent of the national vote, while the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) candidate, Muharrem İnce, received 30.68 percent support in the country’s 2018 presidential election.
İmamoğlu became the mayor of Turkey’s largest city in a landslide victory in a June revote, dealing a major blow to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), which along with its Islamist predecessor had ruled the city for 25 years.
Since stepping into office as the mayor of Turkey’s financial hub, where Erdoğan launched his political career, İmamoğlu has made waves with his pledge to do away with wasteful municipal spending of the AKP.
Conducted with 2,416 people in 26 provinces throughout Turkey between Nov. 19-24, the survey found that 31.9 percent would vote for Erdoğan’s AKP in a general election, compared to 24.7 percent who would cast their ballot for the main opposition secularist CHP.
Turkey’s ruling AKP won 42.6 percent of the votes in the 2018 general elections, while the CHP received 22.6 percent support, the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) 11.7 percent and AKP-ally the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) 11.1 percent.
The PİAR survey found that the MHP received 10.6 percent, the pro-Kurdish HDP 10.2 percent and the centre-right Good (İYİ) Party 9 percent support.
Meanwhile, 7.7 percent of those surveyed said they would vote for the party expected to be formed by former Erdoğan ally and Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan. Another 3.4 percent they would vote for the upcoming AKP rival party to be formed by Former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
Babacan and Davutoğlu are among a number of former AKP heavyweights who have parted ways with the Islamist Party. Both have rolled up their sleeves to form new political movements amid growing discontent over AKP policies and Turkey’s one-man rule.
Canines, you should know by now that your Sultan shall throw the Kemalists to the sea while commemorating the Greeks who were thrown at sea by the Kemalists. Marmara, you should be ready by now, even DarkSecret has arranged to move to Canada you imbecile! Anyway, Greece won't save them because they are millions and they are enemies anyway, but at least there's going to be enough food for the fish of the Aegean during the next few years. Somebody make sure that Balthier, Annihilus and Kaspias return to Turkey in order to be properly sacrificed, they deserve it for supporting Turkey against Greece. Good riddance canines, you'll end up worse than Syria quite soon...
I wish Imamoglu runs in the next general election, it would a one stone two bird type victory for the turkish opposition. Firstly they could regain their nation's secularity and secondly they can continue their anti-terror operations in Syria without the stigma of being of being associated with Al-Nusra and ISIS.

What makes you think he is going to be alive until the next presidential election (and not general, as you suggested).

What makes you assume there can be another election in Turkey? Especially if the opposition has a chance to win anything...

Wishful thinking. They would have to fight against Al-Nusra and ISIS within Turkey by that time, assuming they could somehow gain power... And they are going to lose since the Sultan has already built his private army...

Imamoglou is another puppet of Globalists. He looks like young Erdogan. We all know Jews Europeans and muricans loved Erdogan at the beginning of the story. He got tons of prizes from jews and muricans. He even showed himself on The Times. Now it s Imamoglou's turn
Imamoglou went to London more than 72 millions of times and got prize from Germany which ı expected before.
Most of Chp fans are waking up We know what Imamoglou is or what erdogan is but right now everything has changed We should support Erdogan against Globalists.
After the Gulenist Attack Erdogan became an anti-Globalist and turkish nationalist.
This is a war between Globalists versus Anti Globalists.

Bloomberg has chosen Ekrem İmamoğlu, the mayor of İstanbul who won the race for Turkey’s biggest city from the ranks of the country’s main opposition party, for its top 50 list of 2019.
The list includes people from a variety of backgrounds from finance to fashion and technology to trade who Bloomberg considered to have defined 2019.
“His election victory was a stinging indictment of President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan’s economic policies,” Bloomberg wrote.
“Erdogan’s party had already lost Turkey’s capital, Ankara, and other big cities in March balloting as inflation, unemployment, and a plunging lira took their toll. But he refused to concede defeat in Istanbul, crying voter fraud after Imamoglu won by 14,000 votes.
“After Turkey’s top election board made the controversial decision to rerun the race, Imamoglu increased his margin of victory to 800,000 votes.”
İmamoğlu famously ran on a campaign slogan “Everything Is Going to Be Great.” His campaign promises focused on eliminating waste and debt as well as alleged extravagant spending and corruption by the previous municipal administrations led by Erdoğan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
“If Imamoglu does well, the president could have a challenger on his hands in 2023: The mayoralty was the springboard for Erdogan’s own national political career,” Bloomberg said, referring to Erdoğan’s mandate as İstanbul mayor in the ’90s which allowed him to come to public prominence.
