My mom's food, typical of the Nebrodi Mountain area of Sicily:
Pasta cu li Sardi (Pasta with Sardines) & Escarole (Scarola)
Pasta cu favi (Pasta with fava/broad/horse beans)
Fuazza Fritta (Fried Bread, Fried Foccaccia)
Pasta che Linticchja (Pasta with Lentils)
Pasta che ciciri (Pasta with ceci/garbanzo/chickpeas)
Cannoli
Viscotta au Latti (Milk cookies, they actually don't even have milk in them but i guess its because of their color. They have orange rind and vanilla)
Cuddhura (Sweet Bread/Cookie with a whole egg in shell, for Easter)
Carrobbisa (Holiday cookies from my area filled with Prickly-pear cactus fruit syrup, figs, and spices; they can also be closed on the top) The name of these makes me think it is connected to the Carob, and maybe before prickly pear cactus were introduced to Sicily and the Med. by the Spanish (they are native to Mexico) instead of cactus syrup they might have used carob syrup which grow everywhere in my town but this is just my theory.

I'm drinking something like that.
It annoys me that here in the US, they call it "Italian soda", but blood orange is exclusively associated with Sicily in Italy.
