Denying Turkic influence in iran is a laughable construct. Everyone who read one bit about Iranian history can tell or who knows about Iranian tribal history + village toponyms etc.. Meson is right in saying Turks of Iran mostly fought for Iranian Empires since Safavids, but they formed a state in state rather than being truly considered Persian. My father is from Afshar tribe I posted his results couple of sites earlier.

I think Mesons maternal side is not turkish.

Btw: another myth is that only Azeris are turkic influenced. But in fact turkic influence is not limited to Azerbaijani regions but exists also in Persian regions. But people who settled outside of Güney Azerbaijan speak Persian nowadays and mixed into regular population. But the names etc. remain. Plus there was also a lot of migration or forced settlement from tribes of Azerbaijani regions into other regions.

Exactly, most Steppes ancestry in Northern Caucasus and Middle East is from the Turks. A lot people in North Caucasus speak Turkic (Tatar). Notice how the purest and the least affected ethnicities in West Asia such as Georgians and Kurds have the least of (EHG-Mongoloid) Steppes ancestry.

But you should know that original Turks in Central Asia had a lot West Iranian (Caucaso-Gedrosian Aryan) DNA in them long before they came to the Near East.

And it is true that later real Altaic Turks were heavily influenced by the Persian culture.

The more post-Scythian Steppes ancestry you have, the more Turk you are, in the West Asia/Middle East.

That village of your granny where also that Median R1b Hasanlu IA sample is from has been populated by Kurdish ancestors for thousands years. First it was homeland of the Gutians/Kassites, later of the Medes/Mannaens and now the Kurds.

Kurdish DNA is almost identical to those ancient Aryan R1b samples from your grannies village.
