I wouldn't put anything past our diplomats. Trust me, I've known several. They're forever courting 'opposition forces' in Russia and elsewhere, and hardly working for our interests, anyway.

Oh. I don't envy them their chances, then. For all the Embassy talk of 'British Values', they never look after local staff. But these Iranians should have had more sense than to go work there. You become an obvious secret services target, for both sides. And if they were at all high up in political/social matters then they probably are guilty of trouble-causing.
