Grace: How about Australia, NZ, Canada, USA?

Do you think that those people have equal/ just the same rights to say ''NO'' to some people/ethnics as for example Irish in Ireland, Germans in Germany, Swedes in Sweden etc.? Just because the time perspective .... how long they have themselves been in those areas are quite different ...

Yes I do and Australians are pretty vocal anyway. I think every sovereign nation should be able to decide on what people they let into their country. Politicians a lot of the time don't always listen to their populations but if public opinion is strong enough they do especially where votes are concerned.

Australians aren't native to Australia they are mainly from England actually and they are pretty vocal about the fact they don't want anyone non British there.

Australia takes in more people per capita than any other country. Lots of Asians come in and they take in a large amount of refugees including Africans. Lots of places now where people have come from somewhere else i.e. US, large amounts of the populations in South America, Mexico, Canada etc. Lots of people in Europe as well aren't native. Australians don't only want British but they most likely would prefer immigrants that will contribute to the country. Some Australians have been here for 6 generations or more. The people that developed Australia had to make this country what it is out of a vast wilderness and inhospitable conditions. They achieved amazing results compared to what Australia was originally. Sure the Aboriginal people were here first but at that time it wasn't the world it was today. That was the same time people in Ireland were not allowed own land in their own country or hold public office because of their religion. Many people in the past had it hard and lost their lands. You can't change the past.

I am not against immigration from other European countries.... but my preference goes for well educated intelligent people who have sth to offer to our society.
