How did that happen?
Almost everyone with light brown or sandy hair has regular light blue eyes.

All the gingers I know have blue eyes, but like any other people with blue eyes, no different than anyone else with blue eyes. Some gingers have brown eyes but this is much rarer.

Well there is no clear correlation red hair and lighter eyes in all populations unlike with blond. Red-haired individuals are not much more likely to be light eyed than lighter half or so of brown haired people within a given population. Southern Europeans but not Northern Europeans with red hair tend to be notably lighter eyed than the population at large. This is because the majority of Southern Europeans have deep brunette hair Fischer #4 which makes rufosity difficult to show. Redheads in South Europe will be least medium brown in lightness clearly lighter than average and lighter hair and eyes correlate. Red hair should associated with having markedly lighter eyes than average in South Europe but not North.
