It seems like in some parts of Canaan it lingered in others it did not. Interesting how Samaritans show little of it, whilst Christian Levantintes require a lot.

It looks like they are the closest of all modern populations to the ancient levant/canaanites altogether with some Lebanese and Palestinian outliers. After that we have the Lebanese, Iraqi/Irani Jews, after that we have Palestinians and then we have the Ashkenazi Jews.

It looks pretty accurate to me. I mean, one can look at the G25 results I had posted here, and that Palestinians are over 55% Canaanite while the average Lebanese Muslim gets more higher than that.

I would use a Anatolian reference too, just to make sure wether it is "Greek-Roman admixture" vs local influence from the north.

Which btw improves the fit a lot for all groups, especially for Palestinians and Jordanians. Cool how this is still the case in the region today.
