Only New Mexico has an official dual language recognition. Their state constitution is bilingual. Of course that is only because when they took the territory it was full of Mexicans. Every other state is officially English at a minimum.

One of the states (South Dakota I think) had a vote to add German as its state language along with English. It failed and so far the only state with an official language other than English is New Mexico with beanword.

But the same case does not occur in California and Texas, even these 2 states had and have more Mexicans than New Mexico.
