I don't think so. This corona crisis will definitely change everything as a lot of people are rediscovering their own area and their own countryside... and they like it. What you see right now is a national revival in a lot of European countries.

From an economical point of view the right wing here is like everywhere else, same as the left. But from a social point of view it’s the total opposite.

For europeans Christian Lebanese and Armenians are closer to Europe than turks who are in majority still muslim ... It s an old dichotomy existing since the religious conflict between these two religions , there wouldn't even have been an Europe without Christianity and its war to defend itself against islam.

If we are going to compare Muslim "arabs" and Muslim turks then it s different and you are correct, turks are seen as closer.

She thinks that just because 4% of the total area of Turkey is located in Europe automatically makes it European...alright. I mean, it's not like Europeans had forgotten on the atrocities of the Ottoman empire and etc. It's quite odd that this relationship isn't mutual between Europe and Turkey where certain Turks like her adore Europeans while most Europeans don't.

If anything this coronacrisis will slaughter what is left of the EU's prestige and lead to a re-birth of the nationstate and it will be a very messy process as globalist-minded governments are trying to re-assert control over an increasingly right-wing minded and nationalist population like the struggle that is currently ongoing here. I think the 2020s will be a real mess of economic hardship, increased nationalism and tightening the belt. Bad news for Turkey. Even after this period, our mindset will not be comparable to that of the liberal 1980s, 1990s down to the early 2010s.
