I would like to dedicate more space to this park and its mist forest, which is a unique wonder not only of iberia, but of Europe
The unique ecosystem of Los Llanos del Juncal
In the Strait of Gibraltar, in addition to a famous rock, there is a landscape whose thick fog does not detract from an iota of charm. And above all of historical interest. Because in the idyllic spot of Los Llanos del Juncal (Los Alcornocales Natural Park) ferns coexist growing on the trunks, trees covered with thick moss and lianas between canopy and canopy over 1.8 million years old. Incredible true?
This incredible area, which is classified as a Reserve (you have to request permits to access it), has remained encapsulated since the last great Ice Age. It encompasses some 80 hectares within a natural park that reaches a total extension of 1,677 square kilometers.
The climatic and geological conditions that coexist in Los Llanos del Juncal are unique in the known world. The east winds that reach here create a constant mist that lasts more than 240 days a year. The site is located perpendicular to the Strait, allowing the humidity that comes from the Mediterranean to concentrate.
Due to the humidity provided by the mist, the rocks appear completely covered with moss. In this kind of environmental bubble, a subtropical climate is maintained, similar to what the Mediterranean was like before the Ice Age. And where species of temperate forests subsist that can be seen on islands such as Madeira and the Canary Islands.
For scientists and researchers, Los Llanos del Juncal is a true paradise, where they have discovered species such as ojaranza, Alexandrian laurels, autumn crocuses, lianas or poly-poly ferns. All these plant species have subsisted in the area for 1.8 million years.

National Park of Picos De Europa (Asturias/Cantabria/León)
This park takes its name from its mountains called European Peaks because the sailors who returned from America was the first land they saw when returning to Europe

Doñana national park (Andalusia), wetland considered the largest nature reserve in Europe
Due to its strategic location between the continents of Europe and Africa and its proximity to the Strait of Gibraltar, Doñana's large expanse of salt marsh is a breeding ground as well as a transit point for thousands of European and African birds (aquatic and terrestrial), and hosts many species of migratory waterfowl during the winter, typically up to 200,000 individuals.
because its landscapes at ground level are not very showy I preferred to show these incredible aerial views.
