I agree. But I don't think they can even tell between Norway and Sweden. People seem to get both, regardless of which country they come from.

Hrvoje gets only Swedish though. Must be misinterpreted German in his case as there is no Swedish ancestry in Croatia/Slovenia whatsoever.

If your French ancestry is from the north (NW in particular, Norman or Breton) than it may be hidden under British, because genetically some nw french are very british like and hard to distinguish from other northwest europeans.

If your ancestry is for example south French and Ancestry failed to pick it up, than I have no idea/explanation.

I have Southern French ancestry and I still believe they somehow just never "dug it out" from the English percentage.

But south French and English are not similar at all. Your 23andme shows Ille de France as your main (only?) French region, that's north.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Most of my recent French ancestors are from Brittany, Normandy, Picardy, and so on.

They need to split France up and have Brittany as it's own area also South France. If you look at the Irish and Scottish components they both are part of Brittany.

Meanwhile Wales just chilling and minding it's own business.



It does show how bizarre these clusters are when Brittany gets more Scottish than the Irish and also more Irish than the Scots. Having your own region makes a big difference.
