That region is called Crișana.

Yeah, full German apparently. It would be interesting if they had the side from Romania isolated to see the first German from Crisana. Those 2 that I have are from Brasov in Southeastern Transylvania.

Unfortunately we'll never know. Those two people came to Minnesota and their daughter, the man's mother was born there. His paternal side appears to be either fully or mostly from Eastern Germany (they tend to be Slavic-shifted with up to 35% Baltic), so probably that mixture rendered this South German-like result. Who knows.

I have 4 Transylvanian Saxons (3 are close family) found by Peterski. They were all born in the countryside (1 in Brasov, 3 family members from Mures (Sighisoara)) and look significantly more German than those 2 that I already had. Mine were from the town of Brasov, so perhaps they are more Romanian-influenced because of the character of an urban setting.
Also interesting to note that those from urban Brasov live in Romania, while these left for Germany during the communist period.
