The current average is not sufficient to describe the diversity of Western Germany.

Hey, I gathered 4 fully Hessian gedmatch kits (checked Gedcom). 2 were collected by Peterski and I just found 2 more. Don't know is it sufficient for average but they are interestingly very homogenous and very southern.
3 kits are from southern part of Hessen and one is from NE Hesse (Hessen2), but even this NE Hessian is not different from others and in south German range. Even though I'd say Fulda is more east-central than NE like wiki classifies it.

I am suprised how Hesse seem to be full blown SW German state genetically, at least based on those.

I'll post averages of states with 5+ kits. Seems like Central West Germany has quite a sharp genetic dividing line, NRW is pretty Northern while Hessia and Rhineland-Palatinate are pretty Southern. I guess it corresponds with the sharp divide in neighbouring areas of the Netherlands, and is ancient, Celts were on one side of the river, Germans on the other.

That's great, Creoda. Eastern Germany is very overrepresented on Gedmatch, particularly among those having a family tree. It's full of Saxons, Brandenburgers and East Prussians.

Based on Geography and history, I would have the following suggestion for German averages, since it's more efficient than having many-many state-averages based on low number of samples:
