Avar: 3 grandparents are avars from Balaken, Azerbaijan, 1 grandparent is avar from Dagestan.
Interestingly, very distant from avars, and rather close to northern Azerbaijanis.

That's an interesting sample. I would have expected Avars from Azerbaijan to be just like those from Dagestan. Perhaps Lezgins in AZ would also differ from Dagestani ones by being less European.

Yeah, I suspect they will be less "european" , because there is no barriers, (religions, cultural or even appearance wise, both look kavkaz ultimately) between the Azeris and Avars. They freely intermarry.
When women marry in these villages, they tend to move to their husbands' place. So, genes flows both ways. Azerbaijanis get high "euro", while Avars get (relatively) high "EA", usually through these kind of marriages.

I think Kyp posted some Tsakhur results some time ago. And they exhibited these patterns too. Some were closer to North Azeris than to Tsakhurs.

PS. The reason I mentioned about appearance: previously I didn't think it would be important, but then I read about Ahiska Turks who were deported to Uzbekistan. They complained how the place was different, climate was different and how people in Uzbekistan looked different. This racial divide apparently can be important, and served as a barrier between Ahiska and Uzbeks. They rarely intermarried and there were even conflicts between the two groups.
When they were settled in Azerbaijan, they had no such complaints anymore, as they blend with the locals seamlessly.
