1/2 Turkish from Istanbul, Çatalca, traced until the 1800s. A rumour that there might be a Crimean origin in one part of the family but could not be confirmed with state data.

She has a similar result to my father.

Finally got my Grandmother's Ancestry results. I thought she would be mostly of Qashqai descent. She always said her mother's family came from a town in Almarvdasht near Hormozgan (an area with many afro-iranians and bandari) but I didn't believe her because she has Alzheimer's and my Aunt said that her grandmother came from Marvdasht in northern Fars (also her mother was naturally blonde with blue eyes). But, considering the high African and Southwest Asian my Grandmother was correct seems like she had an Iranian Arab/Iraqi ancestor because she has MANY Arabian matches. I think it would come from one of the Arab tribes in the Qashqai. Also VERY high Northern European I guess this is where my aunt and I get our higher Northern European from. I wonder what exactly is the reason why all our results get such a high Northern European ??

Maybe you get relatively high NE from Caucasus? Azerbaijani or Lezgin seems to be a safe bet as there was a lot of movement to and from Caucasus.

Plenty of people with much less NE can have those features. These things are not necessarily correlated.

Also yes I agree lighter features do no mean much but I just thought it was also just another reason (besides what my Aunt said and that my grandmother has Alzheimer's) not to believe my grandmother's claim that my great-grandmother came from a place with mostly Bandari people who are usually much more swarthy in complexion. I think the light complexion honestly just comes from the inbreeding that is disturbingly common in my family lol.

I see, I didn't know about the Caucasus people there. So it would seem that instead of Azeri of Lezgin you had Adgyhe and Georgians. Honestly, I don't think it is due to Georgians, as they don't tend to have a lot of step. It is most likely due to Adyghe people then.
I am not sure about Qashaqi, maybe they also carry some steppe ancestry and you inherited it through them.

This is the most likely explanation. A rare recessive trait passed on through the generations due to the prevalence of endogamous marriages ))
