Part of Herzegovinian muslims originated from present day Montenegro. But their migration was in distant past (mostly 17th and 18th century).
Bey family Rizvanbegović from Stolac originated from Montenegro. Their ancestor Rizvanbeg came to Stolac from Montenegro in 17th century. They were one of the most powerful families in Herzegovina in 18th and 19th century. Omer paša Latas destroyed power of this family in 1851.
Kula (Fazlagića) near Gacko was founded by bey Fazlagić who arrived from Herceg Novi in 1687 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kula,_Gacko
Together with bey Fazlagić in Kula and some other surrounding places settled bunch of muslim settlers from Bay of Kotor. In that migration to Gacko area came ancestors of Edin Džeko, they arrived also from Herceg Novi. In 1687 Venetians took Herceg Novi and few surrounding places from Ottomans and because of that muslims from there moved to the Gacko area and some other parts of Herzegovina.
