Id really want to know whether the first sample is a Syrian Turkmen/partly Turkish or Caucasian like Circissians. Second one could be partly Greek imo.

Do you have distribution for Kumyks and Vainakhs too? Would be interesting to see the comparison with the Azerbaijanis.
Also interesting to see disparity between the distribution of J1 and R(a and b) between Azerbaijanis of the republic and Iran.

How do you interpret the distance in this case? They seem to be far removed in both plots.

Higher J1 in Republic is from North Caucasus influences, afaik most of it is J1-M267* same as in Dagestan
More R1a in Iranian part is probably due to Iranic whereas more R1b in republic due to Anatolian/Armenian influences

I don't know if they are necessarily far apart. Variation in Iranian regions for example is stronger than the variation of Azerbaijanis. Although there is a significant difference in the distribution of J1, which seems a lot more common in the Republic than in Iran. This is the main difference for them plotting a bit far from each other. But overall still close. It gets more evident if you add a really far population like for example Turkmens or Arabs.

Thanks! Interesting that Kumyks are so close to Azerbaijanis too.
What is the difference between the first and the second (with Kumyks) plot? In one Armenia and Zaza are much closer than the other.
Is there any guide on how to make a PCA like this?
