    Always thought it was like Ian/Iain. Probably just a small difference in Scots or Irish Gaelic.

    Eoin defintely means Owen here, which was what Corraidh was asking about.

    This guys name however is Eion not Eoin and I'm not familiar with that name at all, this one does seem like it means Ian in Scottish.

    Thanks for the reply. Had a few last night and miss read the OP. The mountain here is Benn Eoin, not Benn Eion. I'm not familiar with Eion, either. I never heard it to be cognant with Owen, though. All the Eoins here in Cape Breton are named after St. John.
