Actually, Greeks belong to the middle eastern realm - eastern Mediterranean area, to be more precise. Certain indicators point in that direction: looks, mentality...The narrative about Sparta and Athens being bedrock of European civilization is cute British narrative, hijacked by the modern Greek state.
As far as northern Greece, that area until 1912 was mainly populated with Macedonian Slavs, Turks, Greeks, Jews, etc.- none of which were majority.
In 1923 Northern Greece was artificially populated with Greeks from Turkey, after signing of population exchange agreement between Greece and Turkey.
Thus, quite possibly, your origin can be traced to Turkey.
