Croatian president Zoran Milanović said that the ukrainian greeting слава україни (glory to ukraine) is no different from the slogan used by the fascist ustaše, reported the media.

During a speech in Zagreb, Milanović commented on the use of the Ustaše slogan "Za dom spremni!" ("For home - ready!" or "For motherland - ready!") by right-wing forces, which is officially forbidden in Croatia.

– There is no difference between "Za dom spremni!" and "glory to Ukraine!". This is the cry of the most radical chauvinists in western Ukraine who collaborated with the nazis and murdered thousands of Jews and Poles. I don't want to hear that in Croatia," he said.

“I don't care that some leaders are 'addicted' to it. Let them come up with a different greeting, declared the croatian president, probably referring to the attitude of ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, who usually ends his public speeches with the words: "glory to the Ukrainians!".

And here is the reaction of "our ally" in the person of Mykhailo Podoliak, adviser to the head of the chancellery of the president of Ukraine, to the statement of croatian president Milanović that the cry "slava to Ukraine" is a cry of wartime murderers of Poles and Jews.

Podoliak "advised" the croatian president not to "live with the infantile myths of russian propaganda." And why not "polish propaganda", after all, not russians but Poles were murdered in Kresy?

Of course, the slogan "russian propaganda" is intended to close any discussion on topics that are inconvenient for Kiev. And let no one tell me that the cult of UPA and bandera is marginal in Ukraine, it is the foundation of the current ukrainian state, which even its "servant" Łukasz Jasina found out. Croatia has shown that it is possible to live and develop without the bandit cult, Ukraine has followed a different path.

The comment of the russian newspaper "Arguments and Facts" is interesting:

“The announcement today in Europe that representatives of the OUN-UPA (an organization banned in the territory of the Russian Federation) collaborated with the nazis, killed Poles and Jews, is bold. But after all, Zoran Milanović also decided to compare bandera with the ustashe, and mentioning the latter in a negative way in Croatia is also a brave act.

During the breakup of Yugoslavia and the conflict between Serbs and Croats in independent Croatia, the cult of the ustaše began to revive. Streets, squares began to be named in their honor, museums were opened. This lasted about a decade and a half, but then the point of view began to change in official circles in Croatia. President Stjepan Mesic said: “Any kind of rehabilitation of ustaše and fascist ideas cannot and should not be possible! You can't rehabilitate those who killed innocent people."

As a result, ustaše symbols, including the cry of "Ready to home!", were banned. Nevertheless, there are enough fans of Pavelic's views in the country. And repeating publicly over and over again that the ustaše are hitler's accomplices is not easy for a croatian politician.

Zoran Milanović, who studied law at the University of Zagreb and then international law at the Free University of Brussels, started his career in the court and then joined the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His ministry began at a time when radical nationalists ruled the country, but that did not stop Milanović from maintaining his point of view.

He joined the Croatian Social Democrats, a party that was founded on the basis of the League of Communists of Croatia. After assuming the position of leader of the Social Democrats, Milanović, as part of the coalition, led them to victory in the 2011 parliamentary elections, becoming the country's prime minister.

In 2019, Milanović won the presidential election in Croatia, defeating his predecessor Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic in the second round.

"I am not an enemy of Ukraine and I am not a friend of Russia," the head of state said, responding to accusations of a "prorussian" stance. It's just that Zoran Milanović has repeatedly said that military support for Kiev will not bring peace in Europe, and that the conflict with Russia is fueled by western politicians.

In 2023, the president of Croatia says what few would dare to say now in the Old World: “Washington and NATO are waging a proxy war against Russia with the help of Ukraine… The plan cannot be to remove Putin. Sanctions are absurd, we will achieve nothing with them. They didn't even break Milosevic with sanctions. They go from war to war. And what am I supposed to be, America's slave?"
