After reading about the histories of some Calabrian towns I've became intrigued for their supposed Hebrew etimologies and activities. For example, on Fagnano Castelo:

Such etrog trade links also apply to nearby Diamante.Secondo altri il nome avrebbe origini ebraiche: gli Ebrei che navigavano verso Santa Maria del Cedro per acquistare i cedri utilizzati per una celebrazione, giungendo nei pressi del promontorio cetrarese erano soliti indicarlo in greco come "Kata-rion" – ossia la meta del loro viaggio si trovava proprio oltre il promontorio[5].

Grazie alla sua massiccia esportazione verso Israele e gli Stati Uniti, dov'è ancora usato dai rabbini durante Sukkot, il cedro è diventato una risorsa economica consistente per l'intero territorio.
