Greig is a music student's nightmare. His forms are very simple. Often it is just a four-bar melody, repeated with slight variations. It is his melodies that make the piece. Music theory cannot quantify the impact of melodies.

A lot of people like Willy Nelson's version. I prefer the Emmylou Harris. It is kind of a sad little picture when she sings it.
