Default What is behind the vegan ideology?

There are more and more meat substitutes in the supermarkets, but also meat substitutes and vegan burgers at McDonalds and Burger King.
Example McPlant. Why this vegan hype? That didn't exist 20 years ago. What's behind it? Is it really that much healthier to be vegan?

I think they want to stop hurting and exploiting animals. I doubt it's healthy to not eat dairy products, eggs and no meat at all, even fish.

Hitler was a vegetarian for most of the war and towards the end of his life because he loved animals. He even grossed out people in his entourage with stories of animals being tortured and killed to make steaks of them, in order to get those people to stop eating meat too. But he wasn't vegan, as he ate dairy products and eggs too I believe.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adolf_..._vegetarianism

Vegans should make like liberal Christians and let people believe [eat] whatever they want.

Religion kills animals in this case people too.

I think even they ate some cheese or eggs at times or meat for major holidays like Christmas and Easter.

Animals in the wild will still have to be culled lest their numbers endanger humans either directly as predators, disease carriers, or crop eaters, so, what's healthily killed will probably be eaten...by the elites ofc.

From what I've seen, southern Romanian food is healthier than Transylvanian food. It seems to be more balanced. Transylvanians eat a bunch of pork, sour cream, cheese, fatty stuff.

I don't eat meat but I do eat dairy and eggs etc. I hate what happens to animals in abattoirs. I know that with dairy there are bobby calves. I find it very upsetting and it's odd really as my maternal side were dairy farmers and my paternal side were butchers and they did this for generations.

Yeah I know they swear by slanina and palinca(for drinking) in Transylvania.
