After May 1968 to the early 90's, likely. Today i wouldn't say it's the case anymore. France, Germany and the US had this sort of social revolution at the same time in the year 68 but not the UK to the same extent with youth and student protests, so i think they went into a slow burst to this day with these ideas without experimenting the consequences as quickly, whereas the aformentionned countries are already on their "way back" to more conservative stances.

1967 was our revolutionary year under Harold Wilson, only it was done through an orderly political process: homosexuality and abortion legalised (partially in both cases), the abolition of the theatre censor, easier divorce.

I think that's a big difference, probably didn't feel as much as obtaining thoses changes as a direct consequence of the people, where as elsewhere the generation kind of felt obligated to embrace what they fought for. This generation still votes Macron in mass today, they are the retired people who elected him, but will soon die. Similar situation in Germany especially in the east with the youth who vote afd by a landslide.

I'd still argue that, objectively, France and to an extent Germany are more left-leaning (in a state socialist sense) on economic issues, even if on social issues they are the same or on the right compared to the UK.
