I've read a couple of good books on the Romanovs. It's really brutal how they were executed. It's a shame they didn't manage to escape out of Russia.

It does for accuracy as I was replying to this. There is no motive on my part just to point out that they were mostly German. Ethnicity and genetics is a big part of this forum. If someone said Prince Philip was Greek I would also reply with the same information. That he is mostly German with no Greek blood at all.

Tsar Nikolai the second practically saved Serbia during ww1 .I dont have the nerve to translate the whole text from english so i used google translate
These are his words
"You will not blame me, gentlemen, that I am first of all a Russian and that the interests of Russia are closest to me, but I assure you that immediately after that I am a Serb and that the interests of the Serbian people are closest to me... The merits of Serbia will be rewarded a hundredfold." After the war, it will be several times bigger than it is today! Has anyone ever doubted that Bosnia and Herzegovina are not Serbian countries? That is why the war cannot end without them forming a whole with Serbia. Montenegro has always been one with it, that's why, when the war is over, it will unite with Serbia in an inseparable whole. Serbia was looking for an outlet to the sea, and it will get it in the broad railway in Dalmatia, with the old Split."
"If the Serbian army is not immediately freed from Albania, Russia will break the alliance with the Entente and conclude a separate peace with Germany."

The Jews were the nemesis of the Romanov family, from the time of Catherine the Great and even more so during the time of Nicholas I. Suppression of rights, doubling of taxes, transfer and recruitment of children to the army by "diggers" - until 1855 there was no end to the decrees.
What is certain is that hatred of Jews ran in the blood of the Romanov imperial family. In 1804, Catherine's grandson, Tsar Alexander I, established the "Committee for the Improvement of the Condition of the Jews" and its first meeting opened with the following words: "The Jews are a foreign element responsible for the economic and social problems in the west of Russia." But the worst of all was Nicholas I, Alexander's brother, who was appointed emperor in 1825 and was called by the Jews "the Russian Haman". Nikolai greatly disliked the fact that Jews did not enlist in the army, and in 1827 issued a conscription decree calling for the conscription of Jewish children at the age of 12 for 25 years.
These children lived in harsh conditions and under strict discipline in military training institutions, and upon reaching the age of 18 were conscripted into full military service. The nickname they received was the "Cantonists" and their story gave birth to one of the shocking social phenomena experienced by the Jewish community in exile, one that in some chapters reminds of what happened in Europe in the years 1939-1945. Similar to the Nazis who did the dirty work on the "Judenarat", so Nicolai put the responsibility of providing the recruits' quotas on the heads of the Jewish community.
