London is probably the wealthiest part of England. I often hear complaints that we receive too much investment compared to the rest of the country. I can't think of a particularly poor part of the country that stands out from the rest but Liverpool is probably up there somewhere. It's very deprived, though used to be a vibrant and relevant part of the country

N.B. Within Wales itself, the richest parts are Monmouthshire, the Vale of Glamorgan and the more middle-class parts of Cardiff and to a lesser extent Swansea. The poorest parts are Blaenau Gwent and Merthyr Tydfil.

Poorest - my initial thought was one or the other cowbelt region & yes , a report confirms it to be Bihar .

Richest - having grown partly in Delhi & seeing the city thoroughly & less so Mumbai , my initial thought was Delhi - NCR region but a report says its Mumbai (regardless , I found abodes of Delhites one far far superior i.e. independent & spacious - floors , bungalows , farmhouses etc. with private lawns as opposed to Mumbaikars one which are crammed in high rises mostly thanks to city's topography , though each to their own )
