But there is a difference between a language evolving or disappearing organically and it doing so due to coercion and government fiat. Besides, Spanish isn't Czech or Norwegian, it is one with a real global clout and presence. Also, I thought you were politically conservative, the clue being in the first half of the word?

That's because in your world everything is black and white. I'm politically independent. And you have this naive idea that for something to happen, there must a government decree: Spanish is Paraguay's official language but almost everybody speaks guarani at the same time, English is Singapore's official language but most citizens can also speak chinese. You lack street.

Curiously, I find that PRs (much like the Quebecois too) are quite protective of their language's pre-eminence against English. The periodic attempts there have been to supplant Spanish with English in the PR education system usually result in a massive outcry and protests.
