The entire Eastern Europe had free elections in 1990s (with flaws, but free), despite still being in-between two political blocks. Only Russia (and Belarus) never had free elections, with the asterisk that Putin would have won his second term in fair fashion (in 2004), but he never risked free elections.

In reality, it doesn't matter whether you are happy with Putin or not, you can't choose anything else.
Another happy slave, another ox yoked without decision.
Just because you are afraid of freedom, do you have to repress the freedom of others, and that fear has been imposed on you by your leaders so that they can direct you as it suits them.
Without a doubt, freeing yourself from the responsibility of deciding as you do with "the leader is always right" is a very adult attitude.
And if your lack of courage and conscience makes you suffer, you can always get drunk.
The latter would at least allow me to see that at least deep down you are decent because it is difficult for you to accept your helplessness.

It seems to you that free elections have been held somewhere in Eastern Europe. There are no free elections either in America or in Europe. I am surprised by such gullible people like you. You've seen a couple of propaganda stories on TV, and you're already boldly doing political science on the forum.

Utter nonsense. I gave you a real and practical scenario for your lack of freedom and you respond me with a hypothetical.
You can't criticize the stupidity at the top and this is what ultimately pushed you into war.
Do you remember Naryshkin being trolled by Putin in the pre-invasion days? That's not just him, it's you, the Russian people, incapable to say to your leader, to his face, that he's an incompetent lunatic.
